On May 26th BGS held its annual “Walking Tour.” The venue this year was the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The event was well attended – about 25 people (not all pictured) in all.
Gary Gerlach, BGS board member & former director of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, served as our “tour guide.” As we got our exercise, Gary peppered us with details on the Gardens history. Even with the drought, the Garden was an array of color.
We ended the tour with a visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Library. Jason Kirby, BGS President and member of the BPL-Southern History staff, also works at the BBG library on Monday’s and Friday’s. The Birmingham Botanical Gardens Library is the largest free lending horticultural library in the Southeast and is open to the public.
All who attended had a great time! Thanks to Gary and Jason for a great day.
