The following was taken from today’s (6/13/2007) Birmingham News:
“The Sylvan Springs Fire Department found a pink headstone earlier this month on the side of Pleasant Grove Road. The Fire Department turned it over to the Sheriff’s Department, where it’s being kept in the Bessemer Division property room. Property Clerk Randy Mooremann said he certainly has no need for the headstone, but said he’s hesitant to discard it. “I’m sure somebody wants to put it back where it belongs,” he said. The headstone reads “Ed Taylor, Born January 18, 1886, Died December 5, 1969.” Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at [205] 481-4210.”
