I subscribed a few months ago and have found a lot of news articles both local in nature and regarding specific people. Currently the only old Birmingham area newspaper they carry in the “historical news” section is the Labor Advocate, but there are Montgomery and Mobile newspapers that carry Birmingham and state-wide news.
A great feature of the site is the current obituaries from 1977 forward… there is pretty good coverage for Alabama. The Birmingham News obituaries start in 1993. A link to the newspapers & dates currently offered by GenealogyBank.com can be found here.
