- Dr. Tom Caldwell
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Dr. Tom Caldwell and his daughter, Cathryn Caldwell, on October 20th. Dr. Tom was “one in a million”. A shining star in our midst that cannot be easily replaced. Dr. Tom was a long-time member of BGS, serving as Curator for the past several years.
Dr. Tom will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

UPDATE#2 10/22/2008: There will be a memorial service for Dr. Tom and Cathy on Saturday, October 25th at 11 a.m. Canterberry Methodist Church, 350 Overbrook Road, Birmingham, AL 35213.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel today. Dr. Tom was the rock of the Birmingham Genealogical Society and will be sorely missed. He was a gentle and kind man, and was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. I will remember him always.
