Standifer Cemetery to be Relocated

Standifer Cemetery Relocation

The Standifer Cemetery, located in the Grants Mill Community of Jefferson County, is in the process of being relocated to Grants Wood Baptist Church. Standifer Cemetery consists of fourteen graves, with only one headstone that is discernible. The grave in reference is that of Joel D. Standifer (25 December 1838-28 March 1904) and his grave is in impressive above-ground vault, which is the centerpiece of the cemetery.

Joel D. Standifer married Martha Jane Hamilton on 10 August 1856 in Shelby County, AL. She was born 14 January 1841 Shelby County AL and died 1916, buried Mt. Hebron, Leeds, Jefferson County AL.

Known children of Joel D. Standifer and Martha Jane Hamilton Standifer are:

William I. Standifer (6 May 1859-17 June 1889)

Henry W. Standifer (26 August 1860 – 27 March 1863)

Israel Thomas Standifer (9 December 1865 – 8 April 1949)

Belinda Eveylena Standifer (2 May 1868 – 16 October 1935)

Mary Elizabeth Standifer (4 August 1871 – 19 June 1933)
